Aduana Stars, who are now atop the Ghana Premier League (GPL) standings, maintained their lead over Bechem United on Friday by holding them to a scoreless draw at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The Ogya Boys increase their advantage at the top to five points. They have 32 points after 17 games, while Asante Kotoko and Bechem are in second and third place with 27 and 27 points, respectively.
The team that fell just short to Berekum Chelsea last week at Golden City Park was kept intact by Bechem coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle. He used the same starting lineup for the match.
Aboubacar Tilourba, a newly acquired Burkinabe forward, was substituted for Emmanuel Avornyo in the second half and made his Hunters debut.
However, Paa Kwesi Fabin made a few changes to the lineup that defeated Nsoatreman FC 2-0 in the most recent league match at Dormaa Ahenkro’s Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
After serving his suspension, Richard Danso is back in the starting lineup. The posts were kept by Yaw Ansah Fufuro while Joseph Addo, the captain, was out with an injury.
In contrast to Hans Kwofie, who recently joined from Chelsea, Kelvin Obeng was given the start against Bechem.
The Hunters dominated the first half by controlling the majority of ball possession, but they were unable to turn those possessions into quality scoring opportunities. The game’s opening frame was scoreless.
Aduana stayed solid and strong at the back while Bechem continued to dominate in the second half, but they were unable to capitalize on their dominance by scoring goals.
Regardless of the outcomes of the other matchday 17 contests on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Aduana will end the first half of the 2022–23 season atop the league rankings.
