Following two straight victories over Bibiani Goldstars and Kotoku Royals, Hearts of Oak anticipated winning, but Karela United proved to be the superior squad.
Prior to the much awaited meeting, both teams had won their league games.
On matchday 6, Karela United narrowly overcame Bechem United while Hearts of Oak upset Kotoku Royals 1-0 away from home.
Karela United is currently in seventh place in the league standings with 10 points, while the squad coached by Slavko Matic is in tenth place with 9 points.
The Ghana Premier League will have a one-month break for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
