After losing 4-2 on penalties to Croatia in their quarterfinal game at the Education City Stadium, Brazil was eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Although they dominated the game and were considered the favorites to win the competition, the five-time World Champions were unable to score a goal during regulation time.

After an exquisite one-two with Lucas Paqueta in extra time, Neymar Jr. scored the game-winning goal with a thunderous strike.

Neymar Jr.’s 77th goal tied Pele’s record for most goals scored by a Brazilian player.

Despite falling down a goal, Croatia persisted in trying until Bruno Petkovic’s shot in the 116th minute gave them the equalizer.

Casimero and Rodrygo nearly scored in the latter minutes of the game, but Croatian goalie Livakovic made some outstanding saves.

Brazil’s penalty shootouts got off to a poor start when Real Madrid star Rodrygo missed the opening attempt.

Marquinhos missed the fourth kick, which gave Croatia the opportunity to score all of their kicks and advance to the semifinals.

Croatia has qualified for the semifinals for the second time in a row after making the World Cup final in 2018.
