Ampem Darkoa Ladies football club have successfully booked a place in the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Cote D’ivoire.
After scoring a goal each by either teams in regulation time, the game traveled to extra-time but failed to produce a winner after one-twenty-minutes.
The Ghanaian champions went down just two minutes into the first half but came back to draw level in the sixtieth minute through Gladys Anfobea.
Few minutes after the equalizer, Ampem Darkoa’s Ophelia Amponsah received a read card which reduced the team to ten women — an advantage to the home team, African Sports D’Abidjan.
Ampem Darkoa held unto the game until penalties became the only option to determine a winner.
Approaching the end of the game, Coach Nana Adarkwah replaced Deborah Brown with Safiatu Salifu in post who eventually made the only difference with an important penalty save to propel her side to a 6-5 win after the penalty-shootouts to gain a spot in the finals of the competition.
