Annor Walker, the coach of the Black Galaxies, has stated that their goal in traveling to Algeria was to win the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN), not to take in the beauty of the Arabian city.
Annor Walker hopes to make history by being the first coach to win the title for Ghana as the Black Galaxies compete in their fourth CHAN tournament.
In 2009, 2011, and 2014, respectively, Milovan Rajevac, Herbert Addo, and Maxwell Konadu led Ghana to the three previous CHAN championships, however they were unable to bring home the gold medal with the Serbian taking home the silver.
“From what our head of delegation said that we are here to win the tournament? Yes. We didn’t come here to joke. We didn’t come here to look at how Algiers town is.”
“We came for a purpose, and we also came to win the cup,” Annor Walker said in an interview.
Prior to the start of the CHAN competition on January 13, the Black Galaxies will meet Mozambique in their final friendly on Tuesday, January 10.
