The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given its approval for the betPawa Premier League Matchday 20 contest between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to honor President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of the 66th anniversary of Independence Day.
This follows a fruitful gathering of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Accra Hearts of Oak SC, Asante Kotoko SC, and the National Sports Authority on Friday, February 24, 2023.
The President’s Cup, a yearly game held in his or her honor, is held on the night of Ghana’s Independence Day celebration. The event for this year will take place at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 4 p.m.
The GFA will award the game’s victor three points in the betPawa Premier League, and the Ghana League Clubs Association will also present the victor with medals and a trophy.
Penalty shootouts will be used to determine the winner if the game is tied.
The leadership of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) met with Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif to discuss the proposal and other arrangements for the day (Hon.).
