Bibiani Goldstars FC earned their sixth victory of the year when the Ghana Premier League (GPL) resumed after a month-long break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Miners defeated Real Tamale United (RTU) 1-0 on Monday at Dun’s Park in Bibiani, temporarily taking the top in the standings.
In a game on matchday nine, Goldstars only required a goal from Noah Martey to triumph in front of the home crowd for the third time this year.
Michael Enu and Farouk Adams were replaced in the starting lineup by Godfred Kyei and Emmanuel Appau, and Prince Taifa Osei made his second start of the year for Goldstars.
Under the leadership of head coach Baba Nuhu Mallam, the RTU team that overcame Asante Kotoko SC in their most recent league game in Tamale suffered some changes.
After missing the game against Kotoko, Yusif Nurudeen and the young defender Abdul Fatawu Sayibu both came back to contend for a spot in the starting eleven.
Martey’s lone goal of the contest, which gave Michael Osei’s club all three points and moved them to the top of the log, was scored in the 29th minute.
Osei has a winning start to the month of December and has been nominated for the November award for coach of the month.
