Hon. Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports revealed on the launch of the 8th edition of the Ramadan Cup 2023, four major targets set for Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton.
The former Brighton manager was part of Ghana’s technical team at FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he served as a technical advisor.
The coach is expected to qualify Ghana for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, the 2026 orld Cup (jointly hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico), identify talent in the domestic league, and improve Ghana’s FIFA rankings.
“The objectives are set by the FA for him to ensue that we qualify for AFCON and also to ensure that we identify local talents from our league”
“To also ensure that we qualify for the World Cup and also to make sure that our ranking in the FIFA Ranking improves. These are the objectives in the contract that he has signed,” the Minister explained.
The Black Stars will complete the AFCON qualifiers by playing their last two games away at Madagascar and Central African Republic.
