Asamoah Gyan, a former Black Stars striker, has expressed his displeasure with the withdrawal of Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru from Ghana’s roster for the FIFA World Cup playoff against Nigeria.
Otto Addo, the interim coach of the Black Stars, has named his 27-man roster for the FIFA World Cup playoff match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
For the Nigeria game, Otto Addo invited six midfielders, but Majeed Ashimeru was inexplicably left out, and Gyan has lost his mind about it.
The removal of Ashimeru, who he says is Ghana’s greatest midfielder behind Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, was described as “nonsense” by the all-time Black Stars top scorer.
“This guy @MajeedAshimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after @Thomaspartey22
PERIOD. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh,” Asamoah Gyan wrote on his Twitter page sighted by www.max.com.gh .
Meanwhile, the Black Stars’ midfielders will be Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Elisha Owusu, Edmund Addo, and Iddrisu Baba versus Nigeria.
