Even though Accra Hearts of Oak defeated AS Real Bamako 1-0 on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium in Mali, they were still eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Hearts of Oak was confident that they might defeat their opponents in the second leg, but the Phobians were unable to mount a strong comeback.

Hearts of Oak struggled mightily in the vain attempt to reverse the 3-0 loss they suffered in the first leg.

The Phobians were unable to enter the Malians’ box because of their strong defense.

Real Bamako had a few opportunities throughout the game, but they were also unlucky.

Caleb Amankwah’s stunning volley goal with one minute remaining in the game gave Hearts of Oak some hope.

Obeng Jr. made a smart move to draw the referee’s attention shortly after the score, but he was unfortunate as the game finished 1-0.

Hearts of Oak did not advance to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament with this victory.

In the first leg, which was played in Mali a week ago at the 35,000-capacity Stade Modibo Keta Bamako, AS Real Bamako crushed Hearts of Oak 3-0.
