After losing to Madagascar on Sunday night, Ghana’s Black Galaxies’ 2023 Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) campaign has gotten off to a bad start.
On Sunday, the two nations squared off in Group C of the ongoing CHAN competition in Algeria.
Even though Ghana entered the match as the favorite, Madagascar’s debutants showed to be the superior team with a strong performance right from the opening of the first half.
The underdogs struck just 12 minutes into the first half, shocking the Ghanaians with Solomampionona Koloina’s effort.
The Black Galaxies tried to score before the interval in order to get back into the game, but they were unable.
Later, in the 61st minute of the second half, Tokinantenaina Olivier took advantage of a defensive error to score as well, giving Madagascar a bigger lead.
Seven minutes later, Ghana’s substitute Augustine Agyapong scored a consolation goal, but the Black Galaxies were unable to rally from a deficit to win the game.
Ghana must now get ready for the Group C match against Sudan on January 19 after today’s setback.
