A member of the Hearts of Oak board named Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has reassured fans that the team is safe following the latest incident involving head coach Slavko Matic.
The coach was not permitted to lead a practice session with the playing group before their Super Clash match against Asante Kotoko.
Despite criticism of the board and administration for their silence on the situation, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stated that the club had made wise decisions and addressed the concerns of the fans in a statement. He also emphasized that rather than receiving orders, the club’s leadership would be receptive to suggestions and advice.
“Hearts of Oak is in the hands of very responsible people. Otherwise, I would not be part of it,” he said in an interview with Accra-Based FM station.
“When the issue came out, we issued a statement that addressed what happened. We have taken decisions we think that are not only in the interest of the club but also in the interest of the fans as well.”
He also exhorted the fans to carefully read the club’s statement, which advised the coach to maintain his composure and abstain from visiting the practice grounds as well as a request for police assistance for the coach’s safety.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, assistant coach David Ocloo led the Phobians to a victory over Asante Kotoko with a single goal, demonstrating that the team’s performance was unaffected by the incident. The club rises to fifth place in the standings with 31 points after the win.
