In an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo harshly insulted the team, lambasted the manager Erik Ten Haag, and also took aim at his former teammate Wayne Rooney.
In his shocking interview, Ronaldo claimed that Ten Haag and two other unidentified people wanted to eject him from the team.
He also stated plainly that some within the had wanted him gone since the previous season.
“Man United tried to force me out. Not only the manager, but also the other guys who are around the club. I felt betrayed”.
“I feel that some people didn’t want me at Manchester United, not only this year but last season too”.
The legendary footballer also made it clear that he no longer respected the boss.
“I don’t have respect for Erik ten Hag because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I will never have any for you”.
In the explosive interview, Ronaldo lost control and club legend Wayne Rooney bore the brunt of his wrath in addition to the team and the management.
He labeled Rooney as ‘finished’ for criticizing him. I don’t know why he criticises me so badly.”
“Probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level. I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true,” he added with a smile.
Since the renowned manager Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, Ronaldo noted that “zero” development had been made.
“I love Man Utd, I love the fans, they’re always on my side. But if Manchester United want to do it different… they’ve to change many, many things”.
“Here the progress has been ZERO since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club”.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s issues at Manchester United began during the club’s two-month preseason because of allegations that he wanted to leave.
He fell out of favor with Ten Haag after skipping preseason, who frequently kept him on the bench.
Ronaldo declined to enter the game late and left the field as Manchester United defeated Tottenham 2-0 at Old Trafford.
Before rejoining the first squad, he was forced to train with the U-21s as punishment.
Less than a year remains on Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract after signing a two-year agreement with Manchester United in the summer of 2021.
