The Black Galaxies, Ghana’s domestic national team, can win the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), according to former goalie Fatau Dauda.
Ghana will be attempting to claim its first CHAN championship in Algeria after three previous failed efforts.
The team of Annor Walker will face Madagascar in their season opener on Sunday, December 15, and they will be hoping to build on their strong pre-tournament performance.
Before the competition began on Friday, Fatau Dauda, a member of Ghana’s 2009 team that came in second, thought it was conceivable for Ghana to win its first championship.
“It’s possible if the boys can come together, believe in themselves, listen to the coaches’ instructions because football is now tactics; you listen to what your coaches will teach you to go and play on the field,” he said.
“Definitely they will have some information from the teams they are playing, definitely they have video analyst; they will analyse some teams they are playing against.
“So, if they are determined, they can; I mean win it because they’ve been in the finals before.”
In order to complete its preparations for the 2022 CHAN, Ghana, which placed second in 2016 as well, will play Mozambique in a friendly on Tuesday before relocating to its base in Constantine.
