Last Saturday, boxing enthusiasts at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra withstood intermittent rains as the De-Luxy Boxing League entered the 14th night with thrilling fights and spectacular musical acts that had the crowd clapping nonstop.

Even during the two brief delays caused by the rain, there was never a dull moment because performers King Jerry and boxer-turned-artist Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) sparked a lot of excitement among the eager audience and persuaded some diplomats to fill the arena.

Prince Arhin of the Sea View Gym scored a walkover victory over James Lamptey of Palm Springs in the super-welterweight division.

Enoch Tetteh of the Sonia Gym defeated David Tagoe of the Wisdom Gym by a majority decision in a super-bantamweight contest. Aminu Quarshie of the Attoh Quarshie Gym and Ernest Ampah of the Akotoku Academy fought to a draw in their welterweight contest. The judges gave Tetteh victories by scores of 60-54, 59-54, and 58-55.

Jerry Klutei Robertson of The Gym’s supporters nearly ruined the evening by protesting the decision to award the bantamweight bout to Mohammed Fuseini of the Charles Quartey Boxing (CBQ) Foundation.

Although the game was tight, the officials gave Fuseini the victory with scores of 60–55, 58–57, and 57–57. Fuseini’s supporters were upset with the decision and caused a brief disturbance before everything returned to normal, especially during the musical intermission.

With a unanimous points victory, Eric Quarm of the Fit Square Gym defeated Bernard Ankrah of the Black Panthers Gym with ease (59-53, 60-52 and 60-52).

Despite initial resistance from Michael Tagoe of the Seconds Out Gym, who had a tremendous heart but was beaten into submission from the second round, Charles Tetteh of the Panix Gym easily defeated Tagoe with a third round technical knockout (TKO) victory.

With 11 victories and three losses through 14 fight nights, the CBQ Foundation leads the 12-team league with 33 points. The Fit Square Gym is right behind them in second place with 31 points, while the Sonia Gym is in third with 30 points.

The Wisdom Gym (three points) is at the bottom of the log with just one victory out of its previous 14 matches.
