Despite losing his eliminator bout to American boxer Ryan Garcia, Ghanaian boxer Gameboy Tagoe has declared himself as the best boxer in the lightweight division.
On April 9, Gameboy was defeated by American boxer Ryan Garcia in a unanimous decision in the United States.
Gameboy made excuses after the loss, claiming that he had injured his right hand and leg prior to the battle but still had to fight.
Garcia’s inability to knock him down despite his handicap indicates that he is one of the best lightweight fighters in the world, according to him.
“If you look at the way I fought, I could have won but for my right hand and leg injuries. I am the firstEmmanuel boxer to take him to all the 12 rounds and it tells you I’m the best he has fought so far,” Gameboy said in an interview.
“I don’t see any fighter in the world currently who can defeat me at the lightweight division. Frankly speaking, I don’t see any boxer,” he said.
The former IBO lightweight champion, who is 33 years old, stated he was forced to battle Garcia in the super-lightweight division rather than his customary lightweight division.
“When I got to the United States, we were told Garcia could only make weight at the region of 139 pounds while the required weight for lightweight is 135 pounds, so I fought at super-lightweight and that is why I struggled,” he explained.
Gameboy, who has 34 fights under his belt with 32 victories [15 knockouts] and two losses, has expressed his desire to return to the ring following the loss.
