Berekum Chelsea has consented to take part in the GHALCA Top 6 competition this year.
The team frequently referred to as “the Blues” has reached an agreement with representatives of the Ghana League Clubs Association and will take Asante Kotoko’s position in the competition.
The Porcupine Warriors club informed GHALCA in writing last month that they will not be participating in the competition this year.
“We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s GHALCA Top Six tournament.
“Our decision was purely based on sporting reasons,” an official statement on the Twitter page of Asante Kotoko said two weeks ago.
Berekum Chelsea will now represent the reds in the competition that will also feature Hearts of Oak, a Premier League powerhouse.
Teams from Great Olympics, Karela United, Bechem United, and Medeama SC will also participate in the competition.
