Karela United defeated newcomers Tamale City 1-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase to mark the beginning of Tamale City’s season in the top division.
For the visitors, Liventius Arthur made his debut and Pongo Agbeko got the start in net.
In the first ten minutes of the game, Isaac Mensah was denied by Karela United’s goalie in close range.
Both teams were creating opportunities and vying for the lead, which made the game extremely even.
In the 54th minute, a close range header gave the home team the lead.
To achieve parity, Tamale City made a few adjustments. Bismark Asare was replaced by Godfred Aban. Derrick Gyamfi gets Isaac Mensah off, and Tawfik Salis gets Mohammed Yahaya off.
