In order to draw Karela United at Sogakope Park on Friday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), Legon Cities FC had to come from behind.
In a thrilling game on matchday 10, Legon Cities rallied from a goal down to tie Karela 1-1.
Goalkeeper William Essu and captain Jonah Attuquaye were both absent from Maxwell Konadu’s starting eleven since they were in camp for the CHAN competition in Algeria.
Between the sticks, Wilfred Komla Honu replaced Attuquaye, while Samuel Armah replaced the Essu.
Augustine Randolph, who is also traveling with Ghana’s domestic national team to Egypt, was replaced in the Karela starting lineup by defender Umar Faruk.
Midfielder Emmanuel Owusu Boakye broke the game’s scoreless tie with a brilliant finish in the 36th minute after receiving a lovely assist from Faruk.
Cities equalized in the 73rd minute after Abdul Rahman scored his second goal of the season, extending Karela’s winless league streak to five games.
With the tie, the Royals move up to sixth place in the rankings, while Karela remain in eleventh.
