Berekum Chelsea defeated Dreams FC by a small margin in Ghana Premier League (GPL) matchday 14 at Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon thanks to a goal from striker Kusi Pandrous in the first half.
After seven games in the premiership, Dreams’ unbeaten streak was also ended by the 1-0 victory.
The host team entered the match after losing to Accra Lions in the previous round, while Dreams did so full of confidence after defeating Hearts of Oak last weekend in the FA Cup.
With the important victory, Chelsea, which is currently in ninth place with 19 points and three points above the relegation zone, rises into the top half of the league rankings.
After some good exchanges from both teams, Pandrous scored the game-winning goal for the Bibires in the 32nd minute to break the scoreless tie.
The “Still Believe” outfit came close to getting the equaliser in the early stages of the second half but a freekick from Abdul Aziz Issah went a whisker wide.
Due to the loss, Dreams is now in position 11, level in points with FC Samartex and Chelsea and three points above the bottom of the standings.
