After his public outcry for jilting his popular song, Amerado can now heave a sigh of relief since the board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has reinstated “Kwaku Ananse” in the category for Most Popular Song of the Year.
This news follows a recent review period designated for reporting errors and omissions in the nomination process.
According to a statement issued on April 15, 2024, the board admitted an oversight concerning the categorization of “Kwaku Ananse” and made adjustments.
Initially nominated for Best Highlife Song (remix version), the board recognized the immense popularity of the original song.
“As a result, ‘Kwaku Ananse’ is now a contender in both the Best Highlife Song and Most Popular Song of the Year categories,” it stated.
Another notable correction involved the song “Lonely Road” by O’Kenneth and Xlim Kid. Originally submitted as a featured work, it is now recognized as a collaborative effort by both artists.
The Head of Public Events and Communications for Charter House, Robert Klah, reiterated the board’s commitment to fairness and transparency, acknowledging the role of stakeholders over the past 25 years.
