Hasaacas Ladies emerged winners of the Southern zone after narrowly beating Faith Ladies 1-0 thanks to a header from Fatoumata Tamboura in a game with a tense atmosphere at Gyandu Park.
A nervy first half started with the first attempt of the game by Faith Ladies after just two minutes. Gifty Dwamena was a livewire throughout the first 45 minutes. The Faith Ladies’ winger created a wonderful chance for Maafia Nyame who couldn’t connect well to give her side a shock lead.
The Dansoman-based ladies finished the first half with 53% in possession, whiles Hasaacas Ladies had 47%, but the latter had five shots on target to the former’s two.
With 15 minutes left to the end of the game, Fatoumata Tamboura headed home a corner from Firdous Yakubu to give the home side an important lead.
Hasaacas Ladies held their ground despite Faith Ladies’ charges to get an equalizer.
The Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies are now in their third consecutive Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League final.
