Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak replied with confidence that his side would beat Tamale City in an interview on Max FM on Wednesday morning when asked if his side could keep up in the title chase.
This must be the poorest performance ever by the Phobians this season!
Sampson Ediku opened the scoring for Tamale City with a beautiful solo goal in the 16th minute. The winger dribbled past three defenders to shoot the ball which took a slight deflection off Caleb Amankwah.
The in-form winger doubled his and Tamale City’s tally by converting a penalty after Seidu Suraj’s push on the back of Sule caused him to go down for the spot kick against the Phobians. Hearts of Oak went into the break 2-0 down.
Hearts of Oak’s full-backs Kwabena Anane and Daniel Korsah were immensely poor on the flanks as they endured torrid times against the Tamale City attackers.
A poor pass from Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Nana Yeboah found its way to Yahaya Mohammed who wasted no time slotting the ball into the net in the 56th minute.
Victor Aidoo pulled one back for the rainbow club thanks to Isaac Mensah’s good piece of skill to create the chance for the goal.
Mathew Agama harassed the right flank of the Phobians, creating a great opportunity for his fellow second-half substitute, Godfred Abban, who failed to make it 4-1 for the home side in the 88th minute of the game.
Isaac Mensah’s beautifully headed goal in the 93rd minute put the game beyond reach.
Tamale City are now 13th with 35 points while Hearts of Oak has fallen to 6th position with 42 points.
