According to Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President Abraham Kotei Neequaye, the organization is dedicated to assisting Ghanaian boxers in reaching the pinnacle of becoming global champions through the Ghana Professional Boxing League (GPBL).
GBA, together with Imax Media, held its first GPBL last year in an effort to find and develop young athletes who would represent Ghana internationally.
The GPBL has arrived, according to the GBA President, and will give boxers a platform to be active for international matches.
“The more we get our boxers into the world ratings, we can talk of world titles. Before a boxer can get the chance to compete for the continental titles, he should fight about eight bouts locally, fight for the national title, before he would qualify for the continental stage, that is why this league is very important,” he added.
He claimed that the GBA was still making tremendous efforts to guarantee that the GPBL will be conducted across the nation in order to foster potential in the other Regions.
As he approaches becoming a two-time world champion when he competes against Cuban Ramirez Robeisy in April of this year, Mr. Kotei praised previous world champion Isaac Dogboe for setting a high standard for young boxers to follow.
In order to help the GBA reach its goal, he urged the various stakeholders to join together.
