Asante Kotoko was defeated by Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Field and hence ousted from the MTN FA Cup.
Asante Kotoko had a strong start to the game and had a couple opportunities, but they were just unlucky.
After 45 minutes of play, neither team managed to score, and the first half came to a barren conclusion.
Aduana came on strong in the second half, maneuvering into tight spaces in expectation of a goal.
In the 57th minute, a penalty was given to Aduana FC after Mohammed Alhassan, a former Hearts of Oak defender, pulled down his opponent in the penalty area.
Sam Adams converted the penalty kick to score the game’s lone goal, sending goalie Fred Asare the wrong way.
Even after scoring, Aduana maintained control of the match. They came close to scoring again, but Fred Asare saved Kotoko.
Since they last won the MTN FA Cup in 2017, Asante Kotoko has been ousted from the competition six times.
