Aduana FC’s quest for the double stopped by the betPawa Premier League relegation-threatened side King Faisal FC.
King Faisal advanced to the semifinals of the MTN FA Cup after beating Aduana FC 3-1 on penalty shootout at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.
The game went into penalty shootout after it ended 2-2 at the end of 120 minutes.
King Faisal goalkeeper Adams Abdul Jabal made a great save six minutes into the first half to deny Aduana FC from taking the lead.
Baba Yahaya came close to scoring for his side, King Faisal, two minutes later.
Aduana defender Stephen Anokye Badu gave his side the lead five minutes before half time.
Abdul Latif successfully converted a penalty to make it 1-1 for King Faisal after Asiamah was brought down in the box in the 47th minute.
Frank Owusu gave Aduana the lead back in the 75th minute, only for Benjamin Bature to bring the home side level again three minutes later.
In the ensuing penalty shootouts after 120 minutes of action King Faisal won by 3-1.
Adam Jabal was the star of the shootout after he saved Bright Enchil’s penalty before scoring one himself after Abdul Latif had scored for King Faisal.
Alex Boakye scored for Aduana to make it 2-1. Asiamah missed his attempt for the home team but Aduana’s Anokye Badu also failed and the score was kept at 2-1 in favour of Alhaji Grusah’s boys.
David Oppong Afrane then scored to make it 3-1 for Faisal before Isaac Mintah wasted his attempt to close the shootout at 3-1 for King Faisal who advance to the semifinals of the FA Cup.
Aduana FC will now fully focus on the Ghana Premier League.
