The Super Eagles are no longer afraid of Ghana’s squad, according to a Nigerian Football Federation official, because Asamoah Gyan is no longer with the Black Stars.
The Super Eagles used to have a lot of respect for ‘Ghana’s Golden Squad,’ according to NFF Media Officer Ayo Olu Ibidapo, but they are no longer afraid of the current generation of players in the Black Stars squad.
Nigeria, he claims, has put in more effort in their preparations than Ghana since the Super Eagles must compete in the World Cup.
“We have already started serious preparations for the game against Ghana. We will arrive in Ghana with a Chartered flight,” Ibidapo told an Accra-based FM station.
“Nigerians need this World Cup more than Ghanaians,” he continued. However, Ghana’s Golden Team is admired and respected. Asamoah Gyan is not in the Ghana team.
When asked if the NFF intends to allow FIFA to approve a neutral venue for the opening leg, an NFF official said yes.
He said, “For now we Nigerians know that the match will be played at the Cape Coast Stadium so we are preparing for the game to be played there.”
