Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo is hopeful about Ghana’s chances of reaching their fourth World Cup when they face Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, March 25.
In a two-legged 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff match, Ghana’s Black Stars will face longtime West African rivals Nigeria.
In a statement to the country on the Ghana Football App on Monday, March 21, Otto Addo , the former Ghanaian international declared that Ghana has the quality to beat their opponents in the playoffs.
“We are only a few days away from playing the crucial match against our rivals, Nigeria. We all expect Ghana to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but that won’t be easy, as we need to do our best to make it to the tournament.
“The players, technical team and GFA are committed to this task and we want to make the nation proud by qualifying for the upcoming World Cup,” he said.
The seasoned coach acknowledged that matches between Ghana and Nigeria have always been difficult, but predicted that they will triumph this time.
The assistant coach for Borussia Dortmund also stated that they were confident in their tactics and were optimistic that things would work out for the squad.
He gathered support for the squad ahead of the two highly anticipated matches, with the first leg set for Friday, March 25 at 19:00 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the return match set for March 29, 2022.
Despite the fact that he has yet to name his team, the players invited will begin arriving on Monday and will have their first training session on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
