Thomas Partey, a midfielder from Ghana, was a substitute who played in Arsenal’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City.
The Gunners lost three points to the reigning champions because Partey was unable to play due to an injury sustained before their encounter against Manchester City.
The former Atletico Madrid player did not play in last weekend’s 4-2 victory over Aston Villa by Arsenal.
However, with Arsenal leading by one goal in the 82nd minute, Partey entered the game to take the position of Martin Odegaard.
The Ghanaian added extra steadiness to the Arsenal’s midfield during his 13 minutes of play.
Partey nearly set up a goal-scoring opportunity in stoppage time when he crossed the ball to Eddie Nketiah, but it was intercepted.
Leandro Trossard, whose earlier goal had been disallowed by the video assistant referee, assisted Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli with the game’s lone goal, which came a minute into the second half.
Premier League leader Arsenal is now in first place.
