On Good Friday, April 15, 2022, in the Bukom Boxing Arena, Ghana’s Olympic medalist Samuel Takyi won his first professional battle with a Round Two Technical Knockout [TKO] over his opponent Kamarudeen Boyefio.
Takyi dominated Boyefio in a six-round Lightweight bout promoted by Bazooka Promotions, which is controlled by former world boxing champion Ike Quartey.
From the opening bell, the 20-year-old boxer was on fire, landing big blows that knocked Boyefio down three times in the first round.
Boyefio was caught off guard by Takyi’s planned right hook, but was greeted with a powerful left punch that knocked him out.
The veteran fighter recovered to resume the battle, but a right-hand blow to the cheekbones sent him to the ground once more. Boyefio was allowed to continue the fight despite the referee’s count.

Boyefio fell for the third time in the same round after two straight punches to the head, but he overcame the referee count to continue the fight, but he was spared by the bell to complete Round 1.
In the second round, the 32-year-old was humiliated in the same way he was in the first, falling three times.
After a torrent of unanswered blows from Samuel Takyi, the referee, Erasmus Owoo, called a halt to the fight, seeing the potential damage to the journeyman Boyefio.
