The Ghana Professional Boxing League (GPBL)’s inaugural season kicked off over the weekend at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra with some entertaining bouts that were well-attended by boxing fans.
Fighters from 12 gyms around the country competed in six fights, with several armature boxers providing entertainment.
In the opening fight of the night, Isaac Sackey of Attor Quarshie boxing club won a unanimous decision against Issac Taylor of Akotoku Academy in a Super Bantamweight event.
In a close fight, Emmanuel Dekeh and Micheal Osumanu Osunla shared points in the lightweight division.
In the flyweight division, Panix Boxing Gym’s Adam Nabdeen Salanon defeated Daniel Otoo by technical knockout in Round 1, while John Quaye defeated Stephen Addy in the Super lightweight division.
Azumah Mohammed defeated Patrick Cudjoe in the Super Bantamweight Contest, while Alexis Kabore defeated Michael Tagoe in the Super Bantamweight Contest.
Prince Larbi and Shadrack Dorisa, two Juvenile boxers, also gave fans an entertaining battle, which made many people thrilled to witness the young guys show off their skills in the ring.
