Mustapha Ussif, the Minister for Youth and Sports, has reassured Ghanaians that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is actively seeking a new manager for the Black Stars, the Senior National team.
On January 17, 2023, the Minister revealed this to the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.
The Minister said: “The Ghana Football Association is in the process of hiring a new coach and I have personally engaged them and they have indicated that a final report will be submitted to the Ministry possibly this week or next week.”
He also guaranteed that the new coach would be in place in time for the team’s upcoming assignment.
“I know we have an assignment in March this year and we need to have a new head coach, so he can start preparing for the AFCON qualifiers.
“The country should be assured that the GFA is working to ensure that we get a replacement,” he said.
Otto Addo, the Black Stars’ manager, has resigned.
Following the Black Stars’ World Cup elimination in Qatar, he resigned.
Even if Ghana won the world championship, Addo said he would leave the team after the match and return to his job at Dortmund.
