The goal of Tamale City, according to assistant coach Hamza Mohammed, is to avoid being relegated at the end of the current campaign.
On the opening weekend of the 2022–23 local top-flight season, the Ghana Premier League’s inaugural team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Karela United.
The former Ghanaian great reaffirmed the team’s ambition to continue playing in the Ghana Premier League at the end of the season in an interview with a Sunyani-based FM station.
He claims that the playing group and the coaching staff are determined to keeping the club out of the relegation zone.
“We have a target of helping Tamale City avoid relegation and that is our target for now,”
“Our ultimate target is to stay in the league and improve our standings. We want to play good football which will attract the fans to the stadium to watch our matches,” he added.
At the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale, matchday two of the Ghana Premier League features a match between Tamale City and Legon Cities.
