Brazilian football legend Thiago Emiliano da Silva has announced his return to the club where his footballing career started, Fluminense.
The Brazilian center-back announced he’d leave Chelsea at the end of the season after a 3-year period with the London-based club, winning the UEFA Champions League.
Silva began his football journey when he joined Fluminense in 1998 before moving to Europe in 2004 to join Port B, sparking a long trophy-laden career.
The 39-year-old joined the Blues in 2020 after having had the most prestigious European trophy, the UEFA Champions League, elude him throughout the years at AC Milan and Paris St-Germain.
However, his move to Chelsea proved to be a blessing in disguise, as he finally had his hands on the elusive trophy thanks to a 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Estadio Dragao in Porto, Portugal.
“Oh Thiago Silva,” as his name is sung in every corner at Stamford Bridge, the much-loved Brazilian will be sent off in the most heroic way, just as he’ll be welcomed back to Fluminense.
