Asante Kotoko, winners of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), were active throughout the transfer period and were able to sign eleven new players.
On the final day of the transfer window, the Porcupine Warriors announced the addition of three players to strengthen the squad in preparation for the domestic and CAF Champions League seasons.
Kotoko needed to make an investment in new players after losing some important players who were crucial to their performance in the GPL last season, and the Porcupines were able to do that.
Five players left the Kumasi-based team during the open transfer period. Fabio Gama, a Brazilian footballer, left after completing his two-year deal, but Kwame Baah, a goalie, did not have his contract renewed.
After a great season, Mudasiru Salifu also left the team for Sheriff Tiraspol. In a bumper trade, the club also sent Imoro Ibrahim to Al-Hilal of Sudan, and after two years, Emmanuel Keyekeh went for Samartex.
Kotoko has been able to maintain their Cameroonian striker at the club and has signed additional players to strengthen the team despite interest from their star player Franck Mbella Etouga.
