The Ghanaian Black Meteors have advanced to the second round of the CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations competition.
In the second leg of Round 2 of the qualifying matches for the 2023 CAF U23 AFCON, the team hosted Mozambique today.
In a match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Black Meteors of Ghana controlled play and took the lead at the break on a spectacular goal by Sylvester Simba, who received help from Augustine Randolph.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, the captain of the Ghanaian team, scored from 12 yards in the 54th minute to extend the lead for the home team later in the second half.
At the conclusion of the 90 minutes, Ghana eventually won the game 2-0.
With today’s results, Ghana has a 4-1 aggregate victory and advances to the next stage of the qualifications.
As the team works to earn a spot in the U23 AFCON for next year, Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his players will now get ready for the upcoming test.
