Chelsea put a foot into the Women’s Champions League semi-final thanks to a double from German midfielder Sjoeke Nusken and a goal from Lauren James against Ajax on Tuesday night.
Ajax began the game with the whole of Amsterdam behind them in Johan Cruyff Arena, as they struck the post in the early minutes of the first half.

The Blues recovered from their disappointing start as Lauren James took advantage of a double deflection to give her side the lead in the 19th minute.
Guro Reiten had a goal disallowed before Nusken scored minutes before halftime to create a breathing space for the English champions.

Macario’s introduction in the second half for Chelsea proved pivotal as she set up her German teammate to get her brace of the game as Chelsea took a commanding 3-0 lead into the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
