Vicky Lopez, a teenage player for FC Barcelona Femeni, has rejected the Super Falcons for Spain ahead of their match against the Netherlands in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
Lopez, who was born in Spain and has a Spanish father and a Nigerian mother, was invited by the Spanish Football Federation join the world champions’ match against the Netherlands on Friday in Seville.
At the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Lopez—who scored a goal for Barcelona versus Athletico Madrid on Sunday—won the Golden Ball.
The 16-year-old reportedly earned a significant transfer to Barcelona after scoring 60 goals in 17 games for Real Madrid CFF during the 2020–21 Youth League season.
