The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Neequaye Kotei, has clarified Ghanaian-now-British boxer Seth Gyimah, aka Freezy MacBones’, nationality switch.
The Ghanaian boxer’s switch of nationality made waves on the internet after it was announced.
President Kotei, seemed far from happy about the switch when speaking in an interview on Max FM: “He obtained a Ghanaian license to fight but decided with his management to use the British Sports Authority license after moving there. So people should stop asking me about him. It is his choice! He is not an amateur boxer. If he were an amateur boxer, he wouldn’t need a license. We would’ve brought him if he wasn’t having a team, but he does.”
The GBA came under heavy criticism, according to some, for failing to keep the emerging star following his impressive four-round win over Darryl Sharp in London on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
