Roger Haun III’s father, William Haun, thanked Ghanaians for their outpouring of support for his son after the athlete won two medals in the current Unicycling World Championship.

According to William Haun, the love shown to his son by Ghanaians “is very encouraging”.

“The kindness of #Ghanaians never ceases to amaze me. Thank you to all who have shown love to my son & me over the past few days. It is very encouraging. #goGhana #Mamprugu,” William Haun tweeted.

At the Unicycling World Championships in Grenoble, France, Roger Haun III, a young man from Nalerigu in the North Eastern Region of Ghana, represented Ghana and took home bronze and silver medals.

Before winning the bronze medal in the 50-meter one-wheel race, Haun III finished second in the 30-meter wheel walk race for guys between the ages of 15 and 16.

The father of the nine-year-old, in an earlier announcement, tweeted: “This boy of mine took two Unicycling World Championship medals for Ghana – the nation’s first. I couldn’t be more proud of him for all his hard work and perseverance!”

Although unicycling is a relatively unknown sport in Ghana, it encompasses more than 35 different disciplines, including team, individual, creative, and extreme sports.

Here is the second race: 30m Wheel Walk Race (15-16 male), in which Trey took 2nd place silver medal 🥈 for Ghana 🇬🇭 at UNICON20. Video is in Mampruli but I’m just explaining the type of race, the warm-up, my anxiety about him falling and then we celebrate the win. pic.twitter.com/CyJrTQ9l5R

Ghana 🇬🇭 Twitter is blowing up and asking for videos of Trey’s Unicycle World Championship races so here they are (apologies to those who don’t understand Mampruli but you’ll get the gist). pic.twitter.com/jKliW9jnxq
