Her Excellency Imane Quaadil, the Moroccan ambassador to Ghana, has expressed her delight over the Moroccan national team’s successful so far performance at the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
At the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Morocco was placed in a competitive Group F matchup alongside Canada, Belgium, and Croatia. But the Atlas Lions went undefeated, drew Croatia, and defeated Belgium and Canada to help one of the biggest upsets in the competition advance to the knockout round.
Madam Imane Quaadil described the victory over Belgium as a “pleasant surprise” in an interview with a TV station based in Accra, which only gives the Moroccan team confidence to pull off another upset against Spain.
“It was a pleasant surprise to win the Belgian side and that’s what makes us very enthusiastic about the next step. We are confident we can grab a result in the game against Spain. Hope is also a good thing,” she shared.
“I am hopeful my team will win and the results will go our way. This is a historic moment for our country and we wish our team the very best, our hopes are high. We’re all proud of this Moroccan side,” she added.
For the first time since the 1996 World Cup, Morocco moves through to the round of 16. In the World Cup’s knockout round, Spain will be the opponent for the Atlas Lions, who are hopeful of moving on to the next round.
