2023/24 CAF CL: Medeama SC held at home by Young Africans

Date:

Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC were held by Young Africans of Tanzania (Yanga) following a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday night in match day three of the CAF Champions League.

Black Stars striker Jonathan Sowah brilliantly scored from the penalty spot to give Medeama the lead in the 27th minute.

However, the Tanzanians got their equalizer through Pacôme Zouzoua, as he scored for the second goal in a row after Medeama’s defense showed timidity as he found good space in the penalty box to place the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Felix Kyei.

Medeama showed more purpose after recess as they attacked more in search of the winner but could not find the back of the net, unlike Yanga, who did but was ruled out for offside.

In the other Group D match, Al Ahly drew blank with their Algerian opponents, CR Belouizdad.
