Ghana’s women’s premier league champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, lost out on third place after a 2-0 loss to AS FAR Rabat in the bronze medal match of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.
AS FAR delivered a convincing victory over their Ghanaian rivals, whom they lost 2-1 in the opening match in the group stages.
Ampem Darkoa and their opponents both lost to finalists SC Casablanca and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively, in the semi-finals.
Former Faith Ladies attacker Mafia Nyame netted AS FAR’s opener in the 33rd minute, setting the tone for their victory. Ghizlane Chebbak sealed the fate of Ampem Darkoa Ladies with a second goal in the 45th minute, leaving the Ghanaian champions with no room for a comeback.
Ghanaian defender Blessing Shine Agbomadzi made an appearance on the side of AS FAR. She entered the field in the 60th minute, replacing Nouhaila Benzina, further complicating the narrative of the encounter.
