In the 22nd minute, VAR determined that Ademola Lookman was tackled illegally in the Ghanaian area, and the resulting penalty was neatly executed by defender Troost-Ekong to make it 1-1.
Nigeria believed they had scored the crucial second goal a few minutes later, only for Osimhen to be ruled offside after celebrating enthusiastically.
After a 1-1 tie in the first half, the second half had all to play for.

Head coach Otto Addo made a few changes, switching to a 5-3-2 system with Elisha Owusu and Kofi Kyereh making their debuts, and Andy Yiadom replacing Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Jordan Ayew, and Baba Iddrisu.
Because the first leg resulted in a 0-0 draw, Ghana advanced for the second round based on the away goal rule.
Nigeria came close to scoring, but the game finished 1-1 owing to a handful of Ghanaian defense stops.
On Friday, the FIFA World Cup 2022 draw will take place in Qatar.
