The vice president of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu, reportedly revealed that six of the ten stadia that are currently under construction are ready for opening, according to Graphic Online.
At the 100-day countdown to the 13th African Games, he stated that the six stadia—Dunkwa-on-Offin, Axim, Dormaa Ahenkro, Ho, and Koforidua—were ready. He said that the Koforidua stadium would open before the year was out, and the other four would likely be finished by the following year.
The 10 new multipurpose facilities will include conference rooms, eight-lane athletic tracks, tennis and basketball courts, IT centers, and youth skills training centers in addition to a football field.
“The construction of these magnificent, multi-purpose facilities at Borteyman and the University of Ghana for the African Games, clearly demonstrates our government’s commitment to the development of much-needed sports infrastructure in Ghana,” he said.
