Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, congratulated the Super Eagles on their outstanding performance in the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations in a heartfelt letter.
The Super Eagles enjoyed a remarkable run, surpassing the expectations of football fans. After an epic semi-final against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, the Nigerians faced tournament hosts, Ivory Coast, in the final.

William Troost-Ekong gave the Nigerians the lead before Franck Kessie equalized, then cancer survivor, Sebastien Haller, scored the ultimate winner of Ivory Coast to ensure the coveted AFCON trophy stays in Ivory Coast.
President Tinubu praised the team and encouraged Nigerians to not be downhearted and continue to support the team.
“Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love. To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true.”
