Veteran football coach Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong has advised the Ghana Football Association to keep Swiss female football coach Nora Hauptle as head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana.
The Black Queens, led by Nora Hauptle, suffered a heartbreaking aggregate loss to Zambia in their push to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Ghana lost 0-1 at home to the Copper Queens on Friday, February 23, 2024, before agonizingly drawing 3-3 with their opponents in the return in Ndola on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Regardless of the outcome in the qualifiers, the former Accra Great Olympics coach believes the 40-year-old has done an impeccably good job and must continue as coach, as the development of the women’s game has been evident since she took charge on January 5, 2023.
“They shouldn’t change her unless she wants to leave. She is an expat. What she needs must be made available to her.
There was a lap of honor from the supporters in Accra after the first leg. That is even a push. It shows she’s loved by the people. She is aware of the issues regarding the Black Stars, and when you are applauded by Ghanaians, then she’s up to something good.”
