Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a renowned sports journalist, has passionately counseled Ghanaians against ending Andre Dede Ayew’s career.
Following a dismal performance at the recently concluded Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, the veteran BBC journalist leapt to the Black Stars captain’s defense in the face of public criticism.
The Head of Sports at Imax Media claims that Andre Dede Ayew still has more to provide Ghana’s senior national team.

“If you are there and someone is insulting Dede Ayew, I’ll jump to his defense. Then I’ll remind you what Dede Ayew has done for Ghana football and the fact that I am one of the few people who thinks Dede Ayew’s career has ended, and we shouldn’t make the mistake of prematurely ending Dede Ayew’s career. I think Asamoah Gyan ended his career a little bit earlier, but I feel he could’ve contributed more to it. As for Stephen Appiah, we know it is because of injuries. Dede Ayew is not a finished product, but there’s something he can do, but that is a decision for him (Dede Ayew), the new coach, and the FA collectively to take the decision,” he said to max.com.gh.
Like some Ghanaians, Ampofo Ankrah feels that despite the former FIFA U20 World Cup winner having done so much for the nation, he has been treated like a complete nonentity.
I now pose this question to you, the reader: Is there anything more that Andre Dede Ayew can do for his country?
