Former Barcelona’s Brazilian fullback, Dani Alves, has been hit with a four and a half-year prison sentence after being found guilty of sexual assault.
The court of Catalonia found the disgraced footballer guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona.

He had been held on remand since his arrest in January 2023.
The former PSG star admitted to having sex with his accuser in the toilet at the nightclub.

The prosecutors had demanded a nine-year sentence, but the court showed leniency toward the former Barcelona player.
Dani Alves, at the time news broke of the rape allegations, denied any wrongdoing.
“I was dancing and having a good time without invading anyone’s space.

“I don’t know who this lady is… How could I do that to a woman? No.”
The court’s decision can be appealed.
