Former Ghanaian national team player Jordan Opoku criticized Asante Kotoko’s players for their poor effort in the team’s FA Cup loss to Aduana Stars on February 26, 2023.
The ex-Kotoko midfielder feels that players should take their roles as Porcupine Warriors representatives in competitions a little more seriously when they don the red shirt.
Asante Kotoko was eliminated from the MTN FA Cup following a 1-0 loss to Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu II in Dormaa Ahenkro during the Round of 16 round. This is the cause of Jordan Opoku’s outbursts.
“Kotoko players must begin to be Serious. The players of Kotoko must show seriousness if they want to achieve anything at Kotoko and not necessarily wait for the coach’s instructions.
“Yes, the coach will do his work but the job lies with the players. If not, we will always continue to apportion blame on this and that. The current players at Kotoko do not want to learn, if you don’t do that, there’s no way the results will change,” he said in an interview.
Jordan Opoku also advised the athletes to exert themselves and perform better since they will not gain anything if they think someone is against Asante Kotoko.
“The players must disabuse their minds about the fact that somebody or some people are against them and start to be serious with their training.”
